I found another reference to a dentist who knows the value of offering a teeth whitner service and donating the funds to a local charity.

It seems that for the past 6 years, Dr. Charles Pybus of Amarillo, Texas has been giving all the money from a day of teeth whitening services to the Amarillo Globe-News Empty Stocking Fund.

One whole day is set aside for anyone (not just regular patients) to come in and have their smiles brigthened for the holiday season. The service involves taking impressions, making the upper and lower whitening trays and furnishing the whitening gel at the total cost of $235 (all of which goes to the Empty Stocking Fund).

It's reported that last year, $14,761 was raised and donated to the Stocking Fund.

So, if you live in Amarillo, Texas and want to contribute and have whiter teeth in time for Christmas, set up an appointment on Dec. 10 between 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the office at 8003 S.W. 34th Ave.

Jean Kountz of Lenape Dental Health in West Chester, PA is yet another shining example of a dentist who donates part of her time to help others.

For three years, Kountz and her nonprofit traveling clinic have been bringing improved smiles to Chester County residents who lack the finances, insurance or transportation to obtain it. It seems that at the holidays, when families gather, the need for dental care (espcially dentures) is noticably acute, Kountz said.

This year, among all the people she has helped to improve their dental health, Dr. Kountz treated one gentleman who
hasn’t been able to wear dentures for 20 years. "He wanted to give it another try. It’s going very well," said Dr. Kountz

Dr. Kountz and her team are funded by the Give-A-Christmas campaign, now in its 17th year run by the Daily Local News of Chester County. This fund raises money to help Chester County’s young, old, poor, sick and disadvantaged residents during the holiday season and throughout the year. It begins at the end of November and continues through Christmas.
